CNR Troubleshooting

The info on this page originated from the thread Things to try when CNR isn't working for you in the Linspire forums.

CNR usually works great 99.99% of the time. Should you still have any problems with it, here are a few things to try:

1. Try to restart CNR. Close any open windows that you have. If you see a green icon down in the system tray (by the clock) then right-click on it and choose "Quit". To make sure that ALL instances of CNR are really closed you can press CTRL+ALT+DEL on your keyboard to open the process table. Highlight every instance that begins with "CNR" and click the "Kill" button to end it. Once you are sure that no instances or processes from CNR are running then you can double-click the icon on the desktop to open it again.

2. Log out and log in again. There is a blue button at the top of CNR that says "Login/Logout". Click this to log out of your account. Then, after you have logged out, click the button again and enter your email address and your password and click the button.

3. Clear your cache and cookies. CNR uses the Konqueror web browser. This stores cookies in a separate area from your Mozilla web browser. First, log out of CNR and close all instances of the program (see above). Next, go to L > Settings > Control Panel > Advanced Settings > Konqueror Web Browser. Look under Cache and then under Cookies. You will want to clear both of them and then click OK. After you do this you should open CNR again and log into your account.

4. CNR uses an internal URL for connection. That URL is http://chdkjfpbmbrr.com/. See if you can load this page in a browser. If you are unable to reach this URL then you will not be able to install software via CNR.

5. Remove your routers, hubs, firewalls, or proxy servers. This is the #1 reason why people cannot CNR programs!. If your firewall is blocking your connection to CNR then you should test this by temporarily removing it. Set up your connection so that the Cable/DSL modem is plugged directly into your computer without anything in-between. If CNR works when you are set up this way then that means that you have a problem with your router, hub, firewall, or switch.

6. Try to install a different program! If one program keeps failing then try to install some different programs. It is possible that the program you are trying to install has a problem. If it does, then please let Linspire Inc. know about it.

7. Try to Reset CNR to see if that helps.

8. Submit a diagnostic report! This is a very, very important step! You can submit a diagnostic report by following the instructions here. The engineers will need one of these from you in order to further troubleshoot your CNR problem. You can also submit one by going to L > Programs > Utilities > Console and typing "doreport" (without the quotes).

9. If you suspect that your problem is account related then please open a support ticket and ask the Support team for help. They can look at your account settings to make sure everything is set up properly for you.
