apt-get

Warning! Using apt-get will most likely break CNR (click and run)! You can use apt-get or CNR but, if you use both of them, and you do not understand how dependencies work, then you will break your Linspire system and possibly render it completely unusable. Use apt-get at your own risk and only if you know what you're doing! Installation of software via apt-get is unsupported by Linspire, Inc.

apt-get is part of "apt," a package retrieval tool that automatically connects to known Linux package repositories and checks for new packages. It also works out dependencies between packages. Apt-get is used with the Debian Linux distribution and works from the commandline. It is a tool that downloads the program that you want, it sorts out the dependencies and configures the program after downloading.

It works like this : apt-get install programname

apt stands for Advanced Package Tool. (Specific for Debian based Linux systems.)
